Unico Riviera Maya

Anniversary All Inclusive Celebration of a Lifetime!

June 15, 2022

Patrick and I were celebrating our 14 year anniversary. We had been through an extremely tough year of 2020 which was full of quarantine, mental illness, depression, marriage issues, our kids were struggling mentally, I had just been hired as a music teacher part-time as well as working at Personal Travel, changing churches, and the list goes on from there. Needless to say my husband and I were ready for a few days away to relax and reconnect.

So we booked the flights to Mexico and headed to an adults only all inclusive called Unico Riviera Maya. We were able to get to the Cancun airport by 10:00am and then we got our transfer and took us about 45 minutes to get to the resort from the airport. When we arrived we were greeted in the lobby and they whisked our luggage away and gave us a refreshing cocktail to sip while we checked-in. We were shortly after greeted by our "Local Host" which is very similar to a butler. He showed us the property, set up dining reservations for us, made reservations for us at the gym, set up a spa treatment, and any excursions we planned to do while there. He then took us to our room and told us about the 24 hour included room service, stocked mini bar, and other features of our room. He ended his tour with taking us to lunch and getting us a seat right next to the window so we could look out and see the beach only feet away from us.

The staff was extremely friendly and happy to accommodate for my several dietary restrictions. Honestly, the burger that I got at the 20.87w Restaurant was the most amazing burger I have EVER had! It was top notch! So juicy and thick and full of amazing flavor. One night we went to Cueva Siete which is their mexican restuarant and my husband tried crickets for the first time and loved them (he's not a very adventurers eater). I had chorizo tacos which were amazing. Every night Patrick would go back there for his late night coffee treat! Mayan Coffee which is to die for! It's On FIRE....literally! The last night we were there was our anniversary and we had dinner at the Italian restuarant Mi Carisa and they wrote Happy Anniversary on our dessert plate. They made it very special for us!

We also had an hour couples massage on our anniversary that was absolutely divine. We chose to have ours in the spa and we loved our service! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. On the afternoon of our anniversary our Local Host drew us a bubble bath out on the balcony with rose petals and put rose petals on the bed. We also had an arrangement of flowers in our room. It was so nice and romantic.

Unico had nightly entertainment such as live bands, a dance show, karaoke, and a DJ dance party in the lobby where I broke out my dance moves and led a few people to the dance floor to show off their moves as well. It was so much fun! We made friends with a couple there that we hung out with for 2 days and having another couple to talk to was wonderful!

The beach was nice, the pools were amazing, and the entertainment at the pools was even better. For instance they had a live electric violin player at the pool one day, a live DJ, and games. We loved everything about this resort and the staff. We would most certainly give it a FIVE star review and that's pretty awesome since I have so many resorts to compare it to. I would highly recommend your next stay be at the Unico Riviera Maya.
